Ziff sighed, hearing Jax's alarm clock blare across the room. Without a word, he stood and approached the loud machine, slamming his fist down onto the 'off' button.

"You know, I'm capable of turning off my own alarm, thank you very much," Jax said, sitting up.

His hair, without gel in it, stuck up in every direction, giving him a frazzled look.

"Well, you weren't doing it fast enough," Ziff responded, "Now go get your hair gel in. We need to start getting ready for the day."

Camp had been running for a total of ten days, and Ziff was slowly settling into a routine. He'd get up, shower, get dressed, eat, teach his course, eat, teach the course some more, eat one last time, look for what took his brother, change once more, then go to bed. He hadn't seen any clue that what had taken his brother was still out there, but he could feel in the pit of his stomach that it was.

He grabbed a change of clothes, heading for the small bathroom they shared. After a refreshing shower, Ziff worked his way to the dining hall. He found Jax already seated, eating scrambled eggs and toast. Ziff grabbed himself a bowl of oatmeal before taking a seat between Jax and another counselor.

"Hey! Guess what!" Jax said eagerly.

"What?" Ziff groaned.

"I'm going to be helping you out today. We're integrating nature into art today and since you're going on a trail today, I'll be helping kids find safe plants and objects for art," Jax said.

Ziff rolled his eyes, "Wonderful."

"Well, we're bunking together all summer. I figure we can get to know each other a bit more while we're out today."

"I'm happy keeping my private thoughts private, you know."

"You don't have to tell me everything. Just simple things. Maybe we can actually become friends."

"You're not going to drop this, are you?"

"Nope," Jax grinned, standing to take his now empty tray to the tray drop off, "I'll meet you at the Wilderness Survival cabin later."

Ziff bit back a groan and finished eating, wishing he could avoid spending even more time with the man. The thought of skipping the course for the day occurred to him but he knew he couldn't do that.

"Might as well get this over with," he muttered, heading outside into the morning.

He walked to the cabin, whistling quietly, keeping his eyes open for the dog to come back. He made it to the cabin without an incident and stepped inside, waiting for the first group to arrive. The cabin was dark, the sun not coming through the windows because of all the trees around it.

"This place really needs some light... Maybe I'll get a lamp in town later," Ziff said.

"I need to go to town tonight. I can get one for you," Jax said.

Ziff jumped, not noticing the man had come inside. Jax chuckled, leading a group of campers into the cabin.

"We're ready when you are," Jax said.

"Right. Well, we've gone over the safety rules several times already... So... Let's go," Ziff shrugged.

He led everyone outside and down a two mile trail. Jax joined him at the front of the group as soon as he could, wanting to talk with his bunk mate.

"So... Duffy told me about your brother..." Jax said slowly.

He glanced at Ziff out of the corner of his eye, trying to gauge a reaction from the man. Ziff visibly tensed but didn't speak.

"I believe your story," Jax offered.

Ziff scoffed, "Sure."

"I do," insisted Jax, "Loup Garou. The camp legend. He really exists. I've seen him. No one's seen him fully, only shadows. I think he's what's been attacking animals lately."

"Loup Garou?" questioned Ziff.

"Werewolf," answered Jax.

Ziff rolled his eyes, "It wasn't a werewolf. It only had ears and a tail."

"We have no other word for it. So to us it's Loup Garou."

"Well, whatever it was, it took my brother and I want him back."

"Is that why you go out with that gun every night?"

"You knew?"

"Yeah. But I had a feeling that's what you were up to."

Ziff sighed, looking at his feet as he walked.

"I really want him back," Ziff muttered.

"I'll help you look for him," Jax said.

"Really...?" asked Ziff, looking over at the taller man.

"Really," smiled Jax.
